When a natural dyer spends more than two years testing and trialling different custom spins to arrive at the perfect plastic-free, non-superwash sock yarn, you know it's going to be good!
This is the story of Ovis, woollentwine's custom-spun 50% Cheviot, 50% Jacobs sock yarn. It's good - so, so good. The fiber composition and high twist ensure that your socks are going to last a really long time, absolutely no nylon needed.
Plus: The undyed shades ecru and grey provide the perfect backdrop for woollentwine's fabulous natural dyeing skills. Go for one of her signature muted shades, or venture out into the world with bright poppy-red socks!
If you are looking for pattern inspiration, Jule has put together a whole pattern bundle on Ravelry with suitable designs. Ovis also works wonderfully with woollentwine's Cloud, her cruelty-free silk mohair yarn.

woollentwine's Ovis Sock is an incredible dedication to quality: For over two years, Jule had different blends spun up to a high-twist sock yarn, knit socks out of them, and wore them in her daily life to develop a plastic-free sock yarn that would last.
And she finally succeeded! With its 50% Cheviot, 50% Jacobs blend, Ovis Sock is a true workhorse yarn (without being rough!) and the high twist added in the spinning process ensures that it'll hold up to wear really well.
The icing on the cake? Jule's incredible natural dyeing skills that transform the undyed ecru and grey bases into delicate pastels or punchy brights.
The Ludo Socks are a playful nod to athleisure - two colors combined into two different forms of ribbing (which makes for super well fitting socks!). They're knit from the cuff down and feature a short row heel with extra room at the instep (yay!).
If you love colorwork socks, you will adore the Bearberry Socks! Inspired by the colors of the tundra and drying Arctic plants, this sweet design by The Petite Knitter is knit in stranded colorwork throughout. They are worked from the cuff down and feature an afterthought heel.
The Citrine socks combine a textured ribbing with an understated cable for maximum coziness and knitting fun! They are worked from the top down and make the most out of Ovis Sock's fabulous stitch definition.
Ovis Sock is, clearly, designed for socks. It shines in stockinette, lace and textured patterns as its high twist translates into fabulously crisp stitch definition!
Socks are not the only thing you can knit with it, though! Held double with Cloud, woollentwine's cruelty-free silk mohair yarn, Ovis Sock is transformed into delightfully halo-ey deliciousness - perfect for one skein shawl projects like the Laulu shawl by Sari Nordlund!
