Warmth
We want you to feel like you shop with a friend. Like, we got your back, and we will help you make the best decision for you, from playing with color to how much you can and want to spend on yarn.
Honesty
We want you to know that we’ll always be honest with you. What you see is what you get – and with us, you also get all the insights into how we work so that you can decide whether you want to spend your money with us or would rather look elsewhere. (Which is completely fine! The world is big enough for all of us!)
Care
We care. About you. About the people we love. About this planet. About the animals and plants and rocks and everything that lives and exists on it. (Except for maybe Elon Musk. Just kidding. Not really.)
Grace

How we got to today:
In late 2016, Hanna Lisa was approached by a friend who wanted to create a knitting book featuring sustainable European yarns. Out of those first seeds grew a small team, a crowdfunding campaign, and the first Making Stories publication "Woods".
Between 2017 and 2019 Making Stories saw a lot of growth and changes: We launched digital collections and more books, introduced our bi-yearly Making Stories Magazine, hired a team and faced financial challenges. Those years weren't easy, but they allowed us to set us on the path that we're on now.
At the beginning of 2020 with Hanna Lisa having come back from maternity leave, we started our journey back to our roots - work centered on the intersection of sustainability in knitting.
A relaunch of the blog and the introduction of the Making
Stories podcast were the first steps towards what we wanted to slowly become: Your one-stop-shop when it comes to sustainability in knitting.
Fast forward to the fall of 2021 and for the first time ever, we added sustainably produced yarns and notions to the shop.
We've been growing our selection of yarns, notions and publications ever since - slowly, gently, with the aim to providing you with a selection that works for different budgets and preferences, all sustainably produced.
We now carry lots of yarns that we love, put out our Making Stories Magazine twice a year, and have a soft spot for curated yarn boxes – be they our Sock Subscriptions or the occasional themed box.
