For international orders, we offer both shipping with and without tracking. Our shipping costs are calculated based on the weight of your order. You can see the shipping costs of your order directly when you check out - no surprises here!
All our international orders are shipped with either German Mail (Warenpost) or DHL.
Please note that we encourage choosing a tracked shipping option for larger purchases (our free shipping for orders over €125 includes tracking as well) as we won't be able to locate any orders without tracking in case they take longer to arrive
You can choose whether your order is shipped with DHL Paket (which includes tracking and insurance) or Warenpost! The only exception are our subscriptions which are always sent via Warenpost.
If your purchase is over €75, we'll even cover the DHL Paket shipping costs for you!
We're shipping out your order as soon as possible, the absolute latest is 3 to 5 business days after we received it.
After that, it depends on where you are based! Average delivery times to:
Germany: 1 to 2 business days
EU & UK: 2 to 3 business days
USA & Canada: 3 to 10 business days
You'll receive an email notification once your order has been shipped. If you chose a shipping option with tracking, the email notification includes the tracking number for your order.
If you're worried about where your order is and you've selected a shipping option with tracking, here's what you can do:
Check the carrier website with the tracking number to see where your order currently is.
Contact your local postal service to help locate the package.

Please note that we won't be able to locate your order should you have chosen a shipping option without tracking.
International customers might be subject to import fees, taxes and duties according to your country's import policies. As these policies vary depending on where you're located, please contact your local customs office in case you have any questions on this topic. In most countries, books and magazines are custom-exempt, meaning you won't have to pay any fees on them.
Please know that we are legally obligated to declare all international purchase as "merchandise" with the exact value paid by the customer. We won't be able to mark merchandise as "gifts" or declare a lower value than paid for.
We're also not responsible for a delivery hold-up due to customs or any international customs fees, taxes, import duties or any fees associated with collecting these charges.
Oh no! First things first: Please send us a message to email@example.com to let us know what happened and send us any photos you might have.
Should you have chosen a shipping option with tracking and insurance, please file a damage complaint with your local postal service and send the documentation over to us. Please include a photo of the damaged item as well as a scan of the damage complaint and a short note to let us know whether you'd rather be reimbursed for your order or receive a replacement.
Should you have chosen a shipping option without tracking and insurance, please note that in most cases, we unfortunately won't be able to reimburse you for a lost or damaged shipment or replace your damaged order.
For physical items: We'll accept any returns in original condition within 14 days of you receiving your order. Please note that you need to send us an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) within this time frame in order to make use of our return policy.
Please include your order number and a note describing what you'd like us to do: Refund your purchase directly or in form of shop credit. Please note that we won't be able to take over the return shipping costs should you want to return an item in original condition.
For digital items: Digital products - like PDF patterns and digital versions of the magazine - are not returnable or refundable.
We’re taking care that all our yarn photos are representing the actual color of the skein accurately. However, different screens and devices have different color calibrations, and so the colors displayed might vary depending on the device. This means that the actual color of the yarn might be slightly different in real life than what you can see on a screen.
Our recommendation to get as close to an accurate representation of the color on your screen: Phones and tablets set to 100% brightness are usually more accurate than laptop or computer screens. Also make sure that you've switched off "Night Shift" or any other app / tool that adjusts the screen colors for the evening.
All the yarns we offer are non-superwash, and some of them are dyed using natural dyes. If you want to wash your knitted items, we recommend doing so by hand with luke-warm water and, if you like, a bit of wool wash, so that the yarns doesn’t felt. Yarns dyed with natural dyes can fade over time - that’s a feature, not a bug!

Yes! Simply log in to your account, click on "Manage Collective membership", and choose which level you'd like to upgrade or downgrade to.
Your Collective membership is a monthly auto-renewal. You'll get charged on the same day every month on which you started your membership. For example, if you got your Collective membership on August 23, it will renew on September 23, October 23, and so forth.
Our Annual Subscription is for our magazine only - with it, you get our two magazine issues a year, and early access to our magazine-related yarn releases.
The Making Stories Collective goes beyond the magazine and encompasses the entire webshop - early access to all yarns and products that we're launching or restocking, Collective-exclusive content and products, and, if you choose the Sweater Quantity level, 10% off everything in the webshop. (This includes subscription payments as long as you're a Collective member, so if you don't have a subscription yet, you can combine both!)
