Embrace - Sweater

About Embrace
With its easy to follow shaping and simple colourwork, Embrace is the perfect first cast-on for your little one. Claire designed this sweater to be both beginner and experienced knitter friendly. It is swift and enjoyable to knit with just the right amount of techniques and details to keep you challenged and engaged.
Embrace is knit seamlessly and top down, beginning with a ribbed collar and moving into a little short-row shaping and an increased yoke. Once the yoke has been shaped, a few rows of simple colourwork transition us to the main colour, where you can relax with some soothing stockinette. The body is finished with a little more colourwork and a twisted rib hem. The sleeves are gently shaped and end with a folded cuff in twisted rib, perfect for not only keeping the kids warm, but for a little more space for those growing limbs.

Please note that the neck measurements between sizes 1-4 and 5-8 differ considerably. This is to accommodate the different proportions of babies to toddlers, and make the smaller sizes easier to put on.
Finished chest circumference: 41 (44.75, 47.5, 49.5) 54.25, 58, 61, 63.75 cm / 16.5 (18, 19, 19.75) 21.75, 23.25, 24.5, 25.5” - recommended to be worn with 2-3.75 cm / 0.75-1.5” of positive ease.

Needles
4 mm / US 6 circular needle with a cable length of at least 60 cm / 24” (or needle size to obtain gauge)
4 mm / US 6 double-pointed needles (or needle size to obtain gauge)
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle with a cable length of at least 60 cm / 24” (or needle size to obtain gauge)

To work this pattern using the magic loop technique, use a circular needle with a cable length of at least at least 80 cm / 32” instead of double-pointed needles.
Gauge
21 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” (in the round, in stockinette stitch and colourwork pattern, on larger needle, after blocking)
23 sts x 36 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” (in the round, in 1x1 twisted rib, on smaller needle, after blocking)
