We love the story behind Maren's Moin Hat design: "Rumour has it that my grandfather dreamed of going to sea. However, the closest he got to fulfilling this dream was enjoying fly fishing every other Sunday. My grandmother knit him this classic fisherman’s rib hat to make him feel more like a seaman. She even patched up the hole in it with a small fish when his fly hook tangled up in the fabric. As you can imagine, this hat is my most treasured heirloom as it always reminds me of my favourite grandparents."
Starting with a provisional cast on this hat gets knit bottom up in the round. The brim has a ribbing structure where you see it and stockinette where you don’t see it. That way, the double brim doesn’t get super thick and looks good folded up. The fisherman’s rib makes this hat super squishy and warm.
