Hello lovelies,
One of my all-time favorite tasks when we get a new yarn in is to put together pattern and color combinations. And with Bérénice, De Rerum Natura's sustainably produced Mohair / Merino / Silk yarn (fluffy like a cloud!), the possibilities for patterns and colors are close to endless!
I narrowed it down to my five favorite patterns (well, of right now) in color combinations that showcase the full rainbow of Bérénice colors. I've put a ton more patterns over on our Pinterest Board for pattern inspo for fluffy yarns if you're looking for more!
Now, though, let's take a look at my top 5!
I had to start with Theophrastus by Valerie Rachel as I immediately knew this was going to be my first project in Bérénice. It was originally published in Issue 9, and uses two fluffy yarns held double. Those ruffles are just the best thing!
I am knitting my version in two pretty contrasty colors: Badiane, a wonderful deep rusty red, and Avoine, a warm white-almost-pink. Depending on the size you want to knit, you need 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 7, 7) skeins of each colorway.
Stripes are an all-year-round favorite, and I just love Jill Thompson Beach's take on them in Merrymaker: Combining chevron-like stripes with two different yarns and four different colors should not work, but it does. It DOES.
By combining Bérénice with Ulysse, we have the two different yarns, and we can stay really close to the original sample colors with Ulysse in Poivre et Sel, and Bérénice in Sauge, Doré, and Tutu.
Depending on the size you want to knit, you need 4 (4, 4, 5, 5) (5, 6, 6, 7, 7) skeins of Ulysse and 2 skeins of Bérénice in each of the contrast colors.
Kjerstin Rovetta's Hibiscus Bralette is one of the newest patterns on our site, and I am so thrilled that we finally also have yarn to knit it with! It's the perfect late-summer staple and even great for layering when the colder temperatures come.
I went for a little bit punchier pink than in the sample - Ulysse in Bois de Rose for the main part and Bérénice in Confiture de Rose for the peplum. Wouldn't that look stunning? (You can do the icord straps in Bois de Rose as well!)
Depending on the size you choose to knit, you need 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) (3, 3, 3, 4, 4) skeins of Ulysse and 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2, 2) skeins of Bérénice.
I love the idea of pairing Bérénice with Gilliatt, and I am so excited to be trying this out with my second project: A new Multitudes Hat! I think the cables will look so lovely and soft.
One of the colorways I fell head over heels in love with in Bérénice is Cyprès. It's a wonderful deep tealy blue-green, and we luckily have exactly the same color in Gilliatt! If you wanted to stay closer to the original sample colors, you could go for Bérénice and Gilliatt in Caramel.
For all the sizes, you only need 1 skein of Gilliatt and 1 skein of Bérénice.
I could not write this blog post without showing you the one, all-time favorite pattern that would be perfect for Bérénice: Ksenia Naidyon's Bindweed Cardigan. Originally published in Issue 5, it's been knit so, so, so many times - and rightly so, because it's both so enjoyable to work on and also so fantastic to wear. (Yes, I know what I'm talking about, I have one in my wardrobe!)
Bindweed combines the most beautiful cabled balloon sleeves with a cropped, modern shape and a super-fun-to-knit construction that also makes it easy to adjust it to your body. What more could we knitters ask for, really?
I've been dreaming of a blue version (mine is in pink), and so I picked Ulysse in Nuit held with Bérénice in Belle Étoile to create a jewel-toned wardrobe staple that can be both dressed up and down.
Depending on the size you want to knit, you need 5 (6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8, 9) skeins of Ulysse and 5 (5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8) skeins of Bérénice.

Hi lovelies! The sun is out here in Berlin, and what better day to talk about one of the most joyful issues we've ever done than a brilliant sunny winter day – meet Issue 13, Confetti & Rainbows!
In Issue 13 – our Spring 2025 Issue – we want to play! Confetti and rainbows, unusually and unconventionally interpreted in 12 new knitwear designs – a journey through color, shapes, texture and materials.
Confetti made out of dried flowers, collected over months from bouquets and the road side. Sparkly rainbows, light reflecting. Gentle textures and shapes, echoing the different forms confetti can take. An unexpected rainbow around the corner, on a brick wall, painted in broad strokes.

Hi lovelies! I am back today with a wonderful behind-the-scenes interview with Caroline Frett, a super talented illustrator from Berlin, who is the heart and and hands behind the new look we've been sporting for a little while.
Caro also has a shop for her delightfully cheeky and (sometimes brutally) honest T-Shirts, postcards, and mugs. (I am particularly fond of this T-Shirt and this postcard!)
I am so excited Caro agreed to an interview to share her thoughts and work process, and what she especially loves about our rebrand!
