one of my all-time favorite things to knit is ... hats. They knit up super quickly (at least in a heavier weight yarn), are really, really useful, and make for great gifts. Bonus points for patterns with interesting texture or cables - they are also extremely fun to knit!
As this month it's all about Gift Knitting here at Making Stories, I thought it would be fun to put together a post about those quick-to-knit and wonderful-to-gift hat patterns - and throw in a little goodie for you: All of these knit up beautifully in our new Hudson + West Co Forge.
Hi lovelies! It's that time of the year - the holidays are fast approaching, and the gift knitting has begun!
I really love gifting hand-knits, preferrably ones that are quick to knit up and make for a really enjoyable project - after all, I want to have fun while knitting them, and feel good about the finished object.
You know those origins that are almost too fantastic to be true? Well, Hudson + West's - our latest yarn and pattern addition to the webshop - one is right there with the best of them. Sloane Rosenthal and Meghan Babin, H+W's co-founders, first came up with the idea of a designer-driven, knitter-focused, 100% US-made yarn company at Rhinebeck, one of the biggest sheep and wool festivals on the planet. On a napkin.
In just two days it's officially Socktober! Are you as excited as we are? As we were getting ready for this joyous time of year, I came across a post I had written back in July 2019 when we were running our Summer Sock KAL; Our Love For Natural Sock Yarn (And How To Care For It!).
Over the years, our love of socks and natural sock yarn has continued to grow, so I thought this was the perfect time to update that original blog post and talk about why we love natural sock yarn!
Here at Making Stories, we LOVE our test knitters! It's no secret that they are essential to the success of the magazine, and for getting every single pattern as close to perfect as possible by the time you are casting on your new project. They're wildly talented, unbelievably patient, and one of the highlights of creating our magazine! Today, we want to give a big shout-out to them (and our awesome Test Knitting Maestro, Jess!), and share a few of our tester's projects with you. This is just the tip of a very woolly iceberg, so brace yourself, you're about to get inspired!
