About Sakae - The Pattern

Sakae is a cozy and colourful cardigan that Marianne Munier, the designer, imagined snuggling up with in pleasure and serenity.

The intricate yet easy to memorize cable pattern on the front and back is offset by drop-shoulder stockinette sleeves and a snuggly, ribbed shawl collar. With an open front and knit top-down, it's both super wearable and easy to modify, say, if you prefer a longer body or sleeve length.

About De Rerum Natura's Gilliatt - The Yarn

The bigger sister of De Rerum Natura's Ulysse, De Rerum Natura's Gilliatt is a wonderful round, soft and satisfying fluffy woollen-spun yarn that shows off cables just as well as stockinette stitch. It's a delight to knit with - a perfect yarn for beginners as well as super advanced knitters - and comes in a range of gorgeous colors. It's sourced, spun and dyed in France and Portugal, non-superwash and plastic-free.

4.5 mm / US 7 circular needle with a cable length of at least 60 cm /24”

To work this pattern using the magic loop technique, use a circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm / 32” instead of double-pointed needles.

  • How much is shipping? How fast will the kit arrive?

We've put together an overview of the shipping costs of our kits and our delivery times here!

Is there enough yarn to swatch with?

Yes! All our kits include a little bit more yarn than the pattern calls for so that you can comfortably knit up your swatches.

Is it possible to buy an extra skein or two of the yarn included in the kit at the time of placing an order?

Yes and yes! You can purchase any extra skeins at the same time as purchasing your kit. Simply head over to the Knitting for Olive listings and add the skeins you'd like to purchase extra to the cart. Shipping will be combined, and we'll always match the dyelots.

Where can I get pattern support?

We're here to help you with any questions that you might have on the pattern! You can always send us an email to hello@making-stories.com and we'll help you out.

We also have tons of articles on our blog that focus on helping you get the best results for you in your knitting. We also have our resource page where we have links to videos and tutorials for every technique used in our patterns.

How should I wash the cardigan?

Both yarns are non-superwash, so the cardigan is best washed by hand in lukewarm (not hot!) water, using a little bit of wool wash or gentle soap. Take care not to wring it, but gently squish any excess water out of it, wrap it in a towel, roll it up, and do a little "dance on the towel" to press any remaining water out it. Then, lay it flat to dry.
