What the Kit Includes

4 (5, 5, 5, 6) [6, 7, 7, 8, 8] skeins of Ginger Twist Studio's Masham Mayhem DK - enough yarn to make the Orlina Sweater in your chosen size, including a little bit extra so that you can swatch comfortably without worrying about running out of yarn.

About Orlina - The Pattern

From Susan Schädler, the designer: "Orlina is named after a small river in Spain where we used to spend our Easter holidays. We often sat around the campfire, wrapped in cosy, oversized pullovers."

This pullover has a seamless top-down construction in half-brioche rib. The raglan yoke with striking raglan lines, long sleeves, slightly cropped and oversize look hugs anybody. It is just right to throw on for chilly evenings with a campfire.

Designed by Susan Schädler for our Issue 8 - Campfire.

NEEDLES
5 mm / US 8 circular needle with a length of at least 80 cm (100 cm) / 32” (40”) (or needle size to obtain gauge, main needle)
4 mm / US 6 circular needle with a cable length of at least 80 cm (100 cm) / 32” (40”) (or 2 sizes smaller than main needle for ribbing)

GAUGE
18 sts x 37 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” (in the round and worked flat, in Half Brioche, on larger needles, after blocking)
16 sts x 31 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” (in the round and worked flat, in 1x1 ribbing, on smaller needles, after blocking)

It is important to carefully knit a large enough swatch, wash it and allow it to dry completely before determining the gauge. Due to the loose knitted fabric, the finished sweater tends to stretch in length after washing.

Questions about our Kits?

Check out our Kit FAQs:

Yes! All our kits include a little bit more yarn than the pattern calls for so that you can comfortably knit up your swatches.

Yes! All the yarn you'll receive will be from the same dyelot.

Yes and yes! You can purchase any extra skeins (say, if you want to lengthen the sweater or sleeves) at the same time as purchasing your kit. Simply head over to the individual yarn listing of the yarn included in the kit and add the skeins you'd like to purchase extra to the cart. Shipping will be combined, and we'll always match the dyelots.

You'll need knitting needles of the size(s) that will get you the gauge stated in the pattern. You'll also need the items listed under "Notions" in the "Pattern Details" section. Please note that our knitting kits - unless otherwise stated - do not include the pattern.

We're here to help you with any questions that you might have on the pattern! You can always send us an email to hello@making-stories.com and we'll help you out.

We also have tons of articles on our blog that focus on helping you get the best results for you in your knitting as well as our resource page where we have links to videos and tutorials for every technique used in our patterns.

All our yarns are non-superwash, so any project is best washed by hand in lukewarm (not hot!) water, using a little bit of wool wash or gentle soap. Take care not to wring the fabric, but gently squish any excess water out of it, wrap it in a towel, roll it up, and do a little "dance on the towel" to press any remaining water out of the sweater. Then, lay it flat to dry.

We also have a few articles on the blog with our favorite tips how to care for your knits!
