What the Kit Includes

2 skeins of Lanivendole's A Chic Blend - enough yarn to make the Acorn Mittens in any of the sizes, including a little bit extra so that you can swatch comfortably without worrying about running out of yarn.

About Acorn - The Pattern

These textured mitts are inspired by acorns. Slipped and twisted stitches create a subtle but still visible effect of stripes as you would find all over an acorn. They are knitted bottom-up, seamlessly. At the top of the mitt, just above the thumb, is an eye-catching pattern whose little scales resemble the acorn’s cap.

Designed by Agata Mackiewicz for our Issue 8 - Campfire.

About Lanivendole's A Chic Blend - The Yarn

Artisan craft at its best: a traceable, small scale production in Italy, using only Italian fibers, to create a gorgeous yarn that is then lovingly hand-dyed. Abruzzese wool gains strength and lustre by being blended with alpaca and mohair - this yarn truly shines!

Questions about our Kits?

Check out our Kit FAQs:

Yes! All our kits include a little bit more yarn than the pattern calls for so that you can comfortably knit up your swatches.

Yes! All the yarn you'll receive will be from the same dyelot.

Yes and yes! You can purchase any extra skeins (say, if you want to lengthen the sweater or sleeves) at the same time as purchasing your kit. Simply head over to the individual yarn listing of the yarn included in the kit and add the skeins you'd like to purchase extra to the cart. Shipping will be combined, and we'll always match the dyelots.

You'll need knitting needles of the size(s) that will get you the gauge stated in the pattern. You'll also need the items listed under "Notions" in the "Pattern Details" section. Please note that our knitting kits - unless otherwise stated - do not include the pattern.

We're here to help you with any questions that you might have on the pattern! You can always send us an email to hello@making-stories.com and we'll help you out.

We also have tons of articles on our blog that focus on helping you get the best results for you in your knitting as well as our resource page where we have links to videos and tutorials for every technique used in our patterns.

All our yarns are non-superwash, so any project is best washed by hand in lukewarm (not hot!) water, using a little bit of wool wash or gentle soap. Take care not to wring the fabric, but gently squish any excess water out of it, wrap it in a towel, roll it up, and do a little "dance on the towel" to press any remaining water out of the sweater. Then, lay it flat to dry.

We also have a few articles on the blog with our favorite tips how to care for your knits!
