Altocumulus is a triangular shawl designed by the wonderful Fiona Alice that was inspired by the comforting feeling of gazing up at the clouds. The combination of mohair and lots of texture creates a fabric that you cannot wait to squeeze between your fingers and wrap around your shoulders as you embrace the changing weather outside. The mohair also adds a foggy haze without subtracting from the textures in the body and trim and gives the shawl a lofty appearance.

Biches & Bûches' Le Petit Lambswool held together with their Le Petit Silk & Mohair does not only come in a beautiful range of colors, but it also creates a wonderfully light yet warm and cozy fabric in Altocumulus! The slight woolliness of Le Petit Lambswool meets a beautiful counterpoint in the soft-as-a-cloud Silk Mohair blend. The fabric created when these two yarns are knit up together blocks and blooms beautifully, and works super well for Altocumulus.

We've put together an overview of the shipping costs of our kits and our delivery times here!
Yes! All our kits include a little bit more yarn than the pattern calls for so that you can comfortably knit up your swatches.
Yes! All the yarn you'll receive will be from the same dyelot.
Yes and yes! You can purchase any extra skeins at the same time as purchasing your kit. Simply head over to the Biches & Bûches yarn listings and add the skeins you'd like to purchase extra to the cart. Shipping will be combined, and we'll always match the dyelots.
We think this pattern is well suited for an Adept Adventurer - a knitter who's perhaps already knit a garment or two, is comfortable with standard stitches and increasing / decreasing techniques, and knows how to read a charted pattern (and possibly their knitting - that always helps!).
Both the Le Petit Lambswool and the Le Petit Silk & Mohair are non-superwash yarns, so the shawl is best washed by hand in lukewarm (not hot!) water, using a little bit of wool wash or gentle soap. Take care not to wring it, but gently squish any excess water out of it, wrap it in a towel, roll it up, and do a little "dance on the towel" to press any remaining water out it. Then, lay it flat to dry.
